Online Therapy for recovery from Trauma or Grief and Loss support for Teens and Adults in Texas
Grief and trauma can leave you feeling overwhelmed by sadness, insecurities, fear, and repetitive, negative thoughts.
You feel like a part of you is gone and you’re only a shadow of the person you used to be. Your relationships are strained, friends say you’re distant. Do you still feel alone even when you’re around others?
You’ve tried so many ways to escape the pain and nothing can keep it away. Your mind is either on overdrive or filled with brain fog. You’re doing the best you can to just make it through the day. You are exhausted; yet, can’t get enough sleep.
Maybe you‘re not sure if you’re “really bad enough” to be in therapy or if therapy is even worth trying. People may even be telling you that you deserve to be happy again and they want to see “the old you” back.
What kind of support are you looking for?
Trauma Therapy
Trauma is something that is too much, for too long, and too intense to manage. Trauma impacts each person in different ways and can be a response to a variety of experiences, including a single event that was extremely stressful or frightening, or reoccurring events. Trauma Therapy can help if you feel damaged, out of control of your responses or body, and like you’re just stuck or numb. You could be feeling: confused; living in a haze; like you can never catch your breath; on-edge or easily upset; an unexplainable fear; unable to slow down or sleep, or feel rested; and wondering if you’re depressed, anxious, or both?!
Grief & Loss Therapy
Grappling with the death of a loved one is isolating. Seeking support during this painful time takes a great amount of courage and having someone knowledgable to guide you through the ups and downs of the grieving process provides warmth and comfort. Grief & Loss Therapy can also be beneficial if you’ve had multiple losses or other types of loss, such as: an end to a relationship (divorce, moving to a new city, or your adult child moving away), death of a beloved pet, job loss, loss of an identity or sense of security, or loss of faith or spiritual practices. Each of these experiences needs a space to heal.
Therapy for Teens
The preteen and teen years are challenging. This is when massive changes take place in the brain and the importance of identity and relationships outside of the family take priority. This can strain family relationships and repairing that even more difficult. Teens often feel pulled between two worlds, their friends or extracurriculars and their family. Giving teens a space to explore things with an outside person, where they are free from judgment, can ease the burdens teens carry. If you’ve noticed your teen struggling, get them the support they need to be guided by their core values, while developing a healthy self-image and necessary skills to manage stress. I’m welcoming of people from all walks of life and affirming to folks in the LGBTQIA+ community.
